How I Became My Most Attracive Self at 40 (and How You Can Too!)

I was on the cusp of turning 40 and I was drowning. My skin was terrible, I was overweight and puffy, I had no energy, no confidence and I felt…old. As thankful as I am and will always be for my kids, I had lost myself.

Then one night, in a fit of tears and desperation, I made a decision: Enough was enough.

It was time to stop letting life happen to me and take control to become the woman I was meant to be — strong, sexy, confident, attractive and in love with life! I wanted to be the best version of myself for myself AND for my family. And guess what? It worked!

In all the best ways, I hardly recognize myself, and I created this blog to help other women—like you—do the same.

So let’s get right into it…How did I become attractive at 40?? These are things that I did, and that you can do too!

5 Actionable Steps You Can Take Right Now…

  1. Decide

This is critical…don’t skip! You have to come to the place where you are resolved and determined to take control and make real changes. You don’t just want to go into this frustrated, you want to go into it resolved.

2. Set Expectations

Expect progress, not perfection. Some changes will come quickly, others will take more time—and that’s okay. This is not a flimsy resolution, this is a lifestyle shift. Setbacks and bad weeks will happen…expect that and keep moving. We want forward motion and an overall upward trajectory…we’re not going to waste our energy worrying about little dips that happen along the way.

3. Define HER

Ok, this is the fun part! I want you to visualize the woman you want to become and get really specific

  • what does she look like, smell like,

  • how does she speak.

  • How does she carry herself?

  • How does she dress? Do her hair?

  • What does she enjoy doing? What is she good at?

  • How does she start and end her day?

  • How do people feel when they are with her?

    Don’t worry about it not being “realistic” here…. we’re designing a NEW YOU! Create a fresh Pinterest board with all the inspiration of who SHE is. You need to develop a clear picture in your mind of what you’re working towards to keep you focused and motivated. This will help you know where to start and what actionable steps you can begin taking. Here were a few of mine…

4. Strategize

Our strategy revolves around reverse engineering our goals. I want you to pick 3 qualities or habits that define your ideal woman and create a plan for each. Write them down (this is important) and you are going to break them down into actionable steps. We don’t want to overwhelm ourselves trying to be everything all at once, so pick 3 goals that are realistic for just starting out. I recommend picking one that is easy and you can do right away (for instance, developing the habit of waking up early to stretch each morning) and two that require a bit more effort.



Here is an example:

Goal: SHE is fit

Plan:

1. Research and choose a workout program that fits your lifestyle and budget

2. Execute program 3 times a week

3. Take a BEFORE picture and one every month (I can’t recommend this enough to track your progress and stay encouraged!)

4. Incentivize! Choose something that fits your budget and encourages you keep. pushing. forward. Maybe you allow yourself to get a fancy Starbucks drink at the end of the week if you completed your 3 workouts, or perhaps you pick out a cute workout outfit that you buy if you complete 4 weeks of workouts, etc…

Create a plan for each of your 3 goals and choose a start date.




5. Call in Reinforcements

I will die on the hill that healing and change have to begin from the inside out. For me, to lose the weight and feel good in my skin I knew that I needed professional help in addition to lifestyle changes at home. Here are the two specialists I saw that made ALL of the difference and I would recommend this to everyone as well!

  1. A chiropractor who specializes in upper cervical care. Making sure your body is in alignment affects more than you may know, beyond just having backpain. Blood flow, oxygen flow, and digestion are just a few. For me especially, exercising is so difficult and not nearly as effective when I’m not in alignment. You are literally fighting against your body. I can’t recommend this enough.



  2. A practitioner specializing in Electrodermal Screening. This is probably something you’ve never heard of before, but it goes way beyond any tests a conventional doctor could perform. The machine used for this screening was developed in the 50s by a German doctor and engineer. To say it has changed my life is an understatement. My physician is able to tell me exactly which foods to eat and avoid (very specifically, down to spices) for the month - it changes as I heal, as well as tell me if I have mold, heavy metals, viruses, etc in my system. She’s able to tell me exactly where I’m feeling discomfort without me saying a word. My mom sees the same lady and she even pointed to the tooth that was bothering my mom and told her to get it checked out by the dentist! Once I made the changes to my diet and incorporated the supplements recommended, that’s when my health really began to change, I lost the weight and inflammation, and I was easily able to support it at home. If you decide to find a practitioner in your area that administers this type of testing, it’s important you keep these two things in mind. The device is only as good as the person interpreting the results. Do your research and read reviews. Additionally, more than likely, they won’t accept insurance. My initial visit was about $400 and it was worth every. penny. to me. The subsequent montly visits were are more around $150.

Bottom line, it’s worth investing in professional help that will set you up for success!
